The Agreement
Kitten Purchase Contract
Read it in full, then sign it here. Nothing in it is held back until hand-over day, and if a clause does not sit right with you, write to us before you sign rather than after.
This is the agreement between Celestial Ragdolls and you. It covers what we promise, the vet check in the first three days, what you take on as the owner of a Ragdoll in Arizona or wherever you live, and what happens if the placement ever fails. You sign it electronically below and we are emailed a copy with your signature attached.
Before you sign
The vet check is yours to book. Have your own vet see the kitten within three days of it coming home; book the appointment before it arrives.
Travel is quoted separately. Every journey, including collection in Sedona, is quoted for your address and is not part of the $800. How delivery works.
Two things we ask, neither of them Arizona law. The kitten is microchipped before it leaves us, and you spay or neuter by six months. Both are in the terms because both are what is good for the cat.
If it ever goes wrong, you tell us first. At any age, for any reason. That is a term of this contract rather than a nice sentence on a website.
If you have not read them yet: what comes with the kitten and what the price includes.
The terms
What we promise
- Health at the time of sale. The kitten is in sound health when it leaves us, is eating well, and has no condition known to us that has not been disclosed to you in writing.
- Vaccinations and worming. Vaccinated and wormed for their age, with the written record and the dates on it. Seen by our vet before going home.
- Health testing of the parents. Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for.
- Microchip. Microchipped before going home, with the chip registered in your name. No Arizona law requires it, and we do it anyway: a lost indoor cat with a registered chip comes home.
- Honest description. The photographs on the website are of the actual kitten. Its sex, age and color are stated correctly, and we will tell you what we have seen of its nature in the litter, including anything that does not help the sale.
- Age. The kitten is at least 12 weeks old on the day it leaves us.
- What comes with it. The written health record, the microchip transfer form, a week of its current food, a blanket from the litter and the kitten guide.
The vet check
- Within three days. You agree to have the kitten examined by your own veterinarian within three days of collection or delivery. An independent vet seeing the kitten in its first days with you is what establishes its condition at the time of sale.
- If something is found. If your veterinarian finds a condition at that first examination that we should have disclosed, contact us in writing with the veterinary findings within seven days and we will agree a remedy directly. Injury, parasites and illness contracted after the kitten leaves us, and conditions arising from care, are not covered.
Your responsibilities as the buyer
- Care. You agree to keep the cat humanely, indoors as a companion, with adequate food, fresh water, company, enrichment and veterinary attention for the whole of its life.
- Indoors. Ragdolls are trusting and poor judges of danger. You agree to keep the cat indoors, with access outside only in a secure enclosure or under supervision.
- Spaying and neutering. You agree to have the kitten spayed or neutered by your own veterinarian by six months of age. The kitten is sold as a pet, not for breeding.
- Microchip transfer. You agree to complete the transfer of the microchip into your name within fourteen days of the kitten coming home.
- The coat. A Ragdoll coat mats behind the ears, under the arms and on the trousers if it is not combed. You agree to keep the cat groomed so that it is never left matted.
- Deposit. A $400 deposit holds your kitten and comes off the $800. It transfers to another kitten if you change your mind about which one. If you cannot go ahead at all, $300 of it is refunded.
- Payment. The price of the kitten is $800. Payment is made in full when you collect, or before the kitten travels if it is flying to you. Any travel cost is quoted separately and is not included in the price of the kitten.
- Permission to keep a cat. You confirm that you are permitted to keep a cat where you live, and that you have checked your lease or strata rules where those apply.
If the placement does not work
- Tell us first. If you can no longer keep the cat, at any age and for any reason, you agree to notify us before taking any other step, and to give us the first option to take it back or to help place it.
- No dealers or laboratories. The cat must never be sold, leased, traded, surrendered or given to any pet shop, dealer, research facility or similar establishment.
Limits of what we promise
- No guarantee of adult outcome. We do not guarantee an adult weight, coat color, coat texture, eye color or temperament. A Ragdoll's color deepens for years and its size is not final until three or four; nobody can honestly promise a number from a twelve-week-old.
- No registration papers. The kitten is sold as a companion. No registry pedigree is promised or supplied with it.
- After the sale. Once the kitten is in your care, we are not responsible for damage, loss or injury caused by or to the cat.
- Staying in touch. You agree that we may contact you from time to time to ask how the cat is. We would rather stay in touch than not.

Questions before you sign?
Write and we will go through any clause you are unsure about. We would far rather answer ten questions now than have this signed by somebody who did not read it.
