Ragdoll Kittens for Sale in Colorado
Colorado is the one state where the altitude gets a paragraph of its own. It is not a problem, but a kitten that has spent twelve weeks at four and a half thousand feet in Sedona and then moves to Denver or Leadville will notice, and so will you if nobody warned you.
How a kitten gets from Sedona to Colorado
Choose a kitten, call us, and a $400 deposit holds it. A flight nanny carries it in the cabin from Phoenix to Denver in under two hours, or Colorado Springs when the schedule suits. Mountain-town families meet the flight in Denver and drive, and we time the landing so the drive is done in daylight.
Denver, and sometimes Colorado Springs
Denver is one of the busiest routes out of Phoenix, about an hour and three-quarters in the air with flights through the day, which makes it an easy morning for a flight nanny. Colorado Springs takes nonstop service too but less often. Mountain towns almost always mean meeting the flight in Denver and driving: Summit County is a couple of hours, Durango is most of a day, and in winter that drive needs planning more than the flight does.
Driving to us is also realistic: Denver to Sedona is about eleven hours through some of the better scenery in the country, and families from the Western Slope are closer still.
Altitude and dry air
Give a new kitten a quiet few days and do not be alarmed if it sleeps more than you expected in the first week. Cats adjust quickly. What does not adjust is the humidity, which in a Colorado winter indoors can sit in single figures. Wet food matters here more than almost anywhere: it is the simplest way to get water into a cat that has never learned to drink enough. Several bowls, and a fountain if your cat takes to one.
Winter, and the spare date
Denver weather turns fast and the airport closes when it does. February and March plans carry a spare date, and we would rather move a flight by a day than send a kitten into a storm system. Nobody has ever regretted waiting twenty-four hours.
The outdoor question, answered firmly
Colorado tempts people into letting a cat out. Coyotes, owls, foxes, cars and altitude weather all say no, and a Ragdoll has no instinct for any of them: it will walk up to a coyote to see what it is. Indoors, or a secure catio with a roof.
What it costs, and what is tested
$800 a kitten, every color and sex, with everything on this list. Travel is quoted for your airport and never bundled into the price. Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Every kitten leaves vaccinated and wormed for its age with the written record, seen by our vet, microchipped and registered in your name, and litter trained. Everything that travels with it.
Questions from Colorado families
Will the altitude bother a kitten from Sedona?
Barely. Sedona is already at four and a half thousand feet, so a move to Denver is a small change. Expect a little extra sleeping in the first few days and keep water where the kitten can find it.
Do you ship Ragdoll kittens to Colorado?
Yes. A flight nanny carries your kitten in the cabin from Phoenix to DEN, about an hour and three-quarters, and hands it to you at the airport. Or you fly to Phoenix, meet your kitten, and carry it home on your return flight.
Which airport should I meet the flight at?
Whichever is the shortest drive from your door. In Colorado that usually means DEN or COS. Tell us which and the flight is booked to it.
How much is a kitten, and what holds one?
$800, every color and sex. A $400 deposit holds your kitten and comes off the $800. It transfers to another kitten if you change your mind about which one. If you cannot go ahead at all, $300 of it is refunded. Travel is quoted separately for your airport. What the price includes.
Are the parents health tested?
Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Our cats.
Can I drive to Arizona instead?
Plenty of families do. From Colorado it is about eleven hours by road, and you meet the kitten, meet us, and take it home yourself. Either way nothing is paid for a kitten you have not seen photographed that day.
When can a kitten travel?
From 12 weeks, and never in the same week as a vaccination.
