Ragdoll Kittens for Sale in Oregon
Oregon is two climates with a mountain range between them, and the coat care that suits Portland is the opposite of the one that suits Bend. Most people only find this out after the first winter.
How a kitten gets from Sedona to Oregon
Choose a kitten, call us, and a $400 deposit holds it. A flight nanny carries it in the cabin from Phoenix to Portland in about two and a half hours, or to Eugene for the southern valley. Central Oregon families meet the flight in Portland and drive over the pass, which we plan for daylight in winter.
Portland, and Eugene for the valley
Phoenix to Portland is about two and a half hours nonstop, with service through the day, which makes PDX the handoff for the whole of the northwest of the state. Eugene takes some nonstop service and suits the southern valley. Bend and central Oregon families usually meet the flight in Portland and drive over the pass, and in winter that drive is the part that needs the planning, not the flight.
West of the Cascades: damp
Eight months of drizzle does not soak a cat that never goes out, but it keeps the whole house humid, and a humid semi-long coat mats. Comb the trousers and behind the ears weekly, dry the cat if it has been sitting by an open door, and keep the comb somewhere you will actually reach for it.
East of the Cascades: dry
Bend, Redmond and the high desert are dry and cold, which is closer to what a kitten from Sedona is used to. Here the advice flips: water in several rooms, wet food, and combing for static and shedding rather than for damp.
Rescue first, if that is your question
Some Oregon families ask whether they should look at a rescue before a breeder, and the honest answer is that it is always worth a look. Oregon Humane and the county shelters rehome a great many cats. What you will rarely find there is a Ragdoll kitten, because they seldom arrive, and when a Ragdoll does it is usually an adult with a history. If what you want is specifically a Ragdoll kitten with the mother on the website and a written health record, that is what a cattery is for.
What it costs, and what is tested
$800 a kitten, every color and sex, with everything on this list. Travel is quoted for your airport and never bundled into the price. Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Every kitten leaves vaccinated and wormed for its age with the written record, seen by our vet, microchipped and registered in your name, and litter trained. Everything that travels with it.
Questions from Oregon families
Bend or Portland, which should I fly into?
Portland, almost always. The nonstop service is better and the drive over the Cascades is easier to plan than a connection is. In winter we aim to land early so the pass is crossed in daylight.
Do you ship Ragdoll kittens to Oregon?
Yes. A flight nanny carries your kitten in the cabin from Phoenix to PDX, about two and a half hours, and hands it to you at the airport. Or you fly to Phoenix, meet your kitten, and carry it home on your return flight.
Which airport should I meet the flight at?
Whichever is the shortest drive from your door. In Oregon that usually means PDX or EUG. Tell us which and the flight is booked to it.
How much is a kitten, and what holds one?
$800, every color and sex. A $400 deposit holds your kitten and comes off the $800. It transfers to another kitten if you change your mind about which one. If you cannot go ahead at all, $300 of it is refunded. Travel is quoted separately for your airport. What the price includes.
Are the parents health tested?
Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Our cats.
Can I drive to Arizona instead?
Plenty of families do. From Oregon it is about twenty hours by road, and you meet the kitten, meet us, and take it home yourself. Either way nothing is paid for a kitten you have not seen photographed that day.
When can a kitten travel?
From 12 weeks, and never in the same week as a vaccination.
