Ragdoll Kittens for Sale in Arizona
We are a Ragdoll cattery in Sedona, Arizona, and this page is for Arizona families: how collecting a kitten works here, where we meet, how far you are from us, and the 5 kittens available now.
A Ragdoll breeder in Sedona
Our cats and kittens live in our home in Sedona, in the Verde Valley between Flagstaff and Phoenix. Most Arizona families collect in person, which is the easiest start a kitten can have: a couple of hours in a carrier and it is home. You choose a kitten on the kittens page, send the questionnaire or call us, and we reply with photographs of that kitten taken that day. If it suits your home we agree a time and a place, you meet the kitten, and if it is the kitten you want you pay and take it home. There is no waiting list, and nothing is paid for a kitten you have not met.
Where do we hand over?
We meet you in Sedona at a public place we agree on: a quiet parking lot, a park, a vet clinic parking lot, in daylight. We do not hand kittens over at the house while there are young kittens in it, for their health; a kitten's vaccinations are not complete until sixteen weeks and a virus carried in on shoes can go through a litter. Bring a carrier with a towel in it. We go through the health record together and you take home the food, the blanket and the guide.
How far are you from us?
Almost every Arizona family collects in person, and for most of the state that is a morning. The times below are from Sedona, rounded, for a normal day on the road.
| From | Drive to meet us near Sedona |
|---|---|
| Flagstaff | about 45 minutes |
| Prescott | about 1 hour 15 |
| Phoenix and Scottsdale | about 2 hours |
| Payson | about 2 hours |
| Kingman | about 3 hours |
| Tucson | about 3 hours 30 |
| Lake Havasu City | about 3 hours 30 |
| Yuma | about 4 hours 30 |
| Las Vegas, Nevada | about 4 hours 30 |
| Albuquerque, New Mexico | about 6 hours 30 |
For Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott, Tucson and the rest of Arizona, we can meet part way, and the fee is the fuel, agreed before the day. Families in Tucson and Yuma sometimes prefer to meet in Phoenix, which splits the drive neatly.
Keeping a Ragdoll in Arizona
Ragdolls do well here, with two caveats. The first is heat: a semi-long coat and hundred-degree afternoons mean an indoor cat with air conditioning, shade and water in more than one room, which is how a Ragdoll should live anyway. Never clip the coat for summer; it insulates against heat as much as cold, and a clipped cat burns. The second is dry air: Arizona humidity sits in single figures for months, so wet food, several water bowls and a comb twice a week keep the coat and the kidneys in good shape.
The other Arizona question is the door. Coyotes, hawks and the road all treat a trusting twenty-pound cat as an opportunity, and a Ragdoll has no instinct to run. Indoors, or a secure catio, and nothing else.
Ragdoll breeders in Arizona
There are other Ragdoll breeders in Phoenix and Tucson, and a few over the line in Nevada and New Mexico. Ask all of us the same questions: can I see the kitten photographed today, can I see its mother, what does the written health record say, what has been tested and what has not, and what happens if the placement fails. A breeder who answers plainly is worth driving for; one who will not is not worth the shorter drive.
What comes with an Arizona kitten
The same as every kitten of ours: vaccinated and wormed for its age with the written record, seen by our vet, litter trained, and raised in the living areas of a house with children and a dog. The full list, and the first week at home.
Questions from Arizona families
Where in Arizona are you?
Sedona, in the Verde Valley, about two hours north of Phoenix and forty-five minutes south of Flagstaff. We hand kittens over at a place we agree on rather than at the house.
Can I meet the kitten before I pay?
Yes. Arizona families meet their kitten in person at the hand-over, before any money changes hands. Before that we send photographs taken the day you ask.
How much is a kitten, and what holds one?
$800, every kitten, whatever the color or sex. A $400 deposit holds your kitten and comes off the $800. It transfers to another kitten if you change your mind about which one. If you cannot go ahead at all, $300 of it is refunded. What is included.
Are the parents health tested?
Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for.
Do you meet in Phoenix or Flagstaff?
We can meet part way for Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott and Tucson. Tell us your city and we will suggest somewhere sensible between us.
When can a kitten go home?
From 12 weeks, vaccinated and wormed for its age, vet checked and litter trained.
