Ragdoll Kittens for Sale in Florida
Florida is the state where the coat, not the flight, is the thing to plan for. A semi-long coat in Gulf humidity behaves differently from the same coat in Arizona, and nobody tells you that until it has already matted.
How a kitten gets from Sedona to Florida
Choose a kitten, call us, and a $400 deposit holds it. A flight nanny then carries it in the cabin from Phoenix to Orlando, Tampa, Miami or Jacksonville, about four hours, and hands it to you at arrivals. We book mornings, because Florida afternoons in summer belong to the weather.
Orlando, Tampa, Miami or Jacksonville
Phoenix flies nonstop to all four. Orlando and Tampa have the most service and are the usual handoff for the middle of the state. Miami and Fort Lauderdale serve the southeast, and Jacksonville covers the north and the Georgia line. Flight time is about four hours to Tampa and four and a half to Miami. The Panhandle is the awkward corner: Pensacola and Tallahassee usually need a connection, so families there often meet the flight in Atlanta or Tampa and drive the rest.
Humidity, and the three places a coat mats
Behind the ears, under the front legs, and the trousers on the back of the hind legs. In a dry state you can get away with combing once a week. In Florida, twice, and use your fingers first: a mat you can feel the size of a pea combs out in seconds, and one the size of a walnut has to be cut out. Keep a steel comb where you sit rather than in a drawer and it will get used.
Fleas never stop in Florida. That is a conversation with your vet at the first visit, not something to deal with when you see one.
Hurricane season changes the calendar
From June to November a storm can close an airport with a day or two of notice, so Florida travel plans carry a spare date. It also changes what you should have at home: a carrier, a week of food, litter and the vaccination record together in one place you can carry. A cat is a lot easier to evacuate than most people expect, provided the carrier is not in the attic.
Why a Florida family buys from Arizona
Because the litter you want is rarely in the state you live in, and a four-hour flight in the cabin is a smaller thing than the wait for the right kitten. What we do about the distance is show more: photographs taken the day you ask, the mother on this site, the written health record before any money moves, and a phone that gets answered.
What it costs, and what is tested
$800 a kitten, every color and sex, with everything on this list. Travel is quoted for your airport and never bundled into the price. Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Every kitten leaves vaccinated and wormed for its age with the written record, seen by our vet, microchipped and registered in your name, and litter trained. Everything that travels with it.
Questions from Florida families
What happens if a hurricane is forecast on my travel date?
We move it. The kitten stays with us, at no cost to you, until there is a clear morning at both ends. A date is never worth a risk with an animal in a carrier.
Do you ship Ragdoll kittens to Florida?
Yes. A flight nanny carries your kitten in the cabin from Phoenix to MCO, about four hours, and hands it to you at the airport. Or you fly to Phoenix, meet your kitten, and carry it home on your return flight.
Which airport should I meet the flight at?
Whichever is the shortest drive from your door. In Florida that usually means MCO, TPA, MIA or JAX. Tell us which and the flight is booked to it.
How much is a kitten, and what holds one?
$800, every color and sex. A $400 deposit holds your kitten and comes off the $800. It transfers to another kitten if you change your mind about which one. If you cannot go ahead at all, $300 of it is refunded. Travel is quoted separately for your airport. What the price includes.
Are the parents health tested?
Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Our cats.
Can I drive to Arizona instead?
Plenty of families do. From Florida it is more than thirty hours by road, and you meet the kitten, meet us, and take it home yourself. Either way nothing is paid for a kitten you have not seen photographed that day.
When can a kitten travel?
From 12 weeks, and never in the same week as a vaccination.
