Ragdoll Kittens for Sale in Illinois

Illinois is Chicago and then everywhere else, and the two have different answers. From the city it is a nonstop flight and a train ride home. From downstate it is a flight and a drive, or a very long day on I-55.

How a kitten gets from Sedona to Illinois

Choose a kitten, call us, and say whether O’Hare or Midway is easier. A $400 deposit holds the kitten, and a flight nanny carries it in the cabin from Phoenix, about three and a quarter hours, to the airport you named.

O’Hare or Midway

Both take nonstop flights from Phoenix, about three and a quarter hours. Midway is usually the quicker handoff for the south and west sides and the near suburbs, O’Hare for everything north. Downstate, Springfield, Peoria, Champaign and the Metro East, families either drive to Chicago or fly into St. Louis, which is closer for the bottom third of the state.

A Chicago winter coat

The coat that comes in for a Chicago winter is the full one, and it drops in spring in a way that surprises first-time Ragdoll owners. Forced-air heat dries the skin underneath it, so a humidifier earns its place, and so do extra water bowls. The comb is the thing: twice a week through the winter and daily for a fortnight in April, and you will never meet a mat.

High-rise living, which suits them

A Ragdoll in a condo is a Ragdoll in its element, as long as somebody is home most days. They do not need a yard and they should never have a balcony without a screen: they are trusting, they are not cautious about heights, and a cat that has lived indoors all its life has no reason to think a railing is a limit. Screen it or keep the door shut.

Winter dates move sometimes

O’Hare in January is the most likely place in our travel map for a delay, so Illinois plans are made with a spare day in hand. A morning nonstop is the plan. An afternoon connection through Denver in a snow week is not a plan, it is a hope.

What it costs, and what is tested

$800 a kitten, every color and sex, with everything on this list. Travel is quoted for your airport and never bundled into the price. Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Every kitten leaves vaccinated and wormed for its age with the written record, seen by our vet, microchipped and registered in your name, and litter trained. Everything that travels with it.

Questions from Illinois families

01

I am downstate. Should I fly into Chicago or St. Louis?

St. Louis is closer for the bottom third of Illinois and often the shorter day. Tell us your town and we will compare the two drives honestly rather than defaulting to Chicago.

02

Do you ship Ragdoll kittens to Illinois?

Yes. A flight nanny carries your kitten in the cabin from Phoenix to ORD, about three and a quarter hours, and hands it to you at the airport. Or you fly to Phoenix, meet your kitten, and carry it home on your return flight.

03

Which airport should I meet the flight at?

Whichever is the shortest drive from your door. In Illinois that usually means ORD or MDW. Tell us which and the flight is booked to it.

04

How much is a kitten, and what holds one?

$800, every color and sex. A $400 deposit holds your kitten and comes off the $800. It transfers to another kitten if you change your mind about which one. If you cannot go ahead at all, $300 of it is refunded. Travel is quoted separately for your airport. What the price includes.

05

Are the parents health tested?

Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Our cats.

06

Can I drive to Arizona instead?

Plenty of families do. From Illinois it is about twenty-four hours by road, and you meet the kitten, meet us, and take it home yourself. Either way nothing is paid for a kitten you have not seen photographed that day.

07

When can a kitten travel?

From 12 weeks, and never in the same week as a vaccination.
