Ragdoll Kittens for Sale in New York
New York splits neatly in two for this. Downstate is three airports and a traffic problem. Upstate is a connection and a drive. Both work, and they are planned differently.
How a kitten gets from Sedona to New York
Choose a kitten, call us, and a $400 deposit holds it. A flight nanny carries it in the cabin from Phoenix to JFK, LaGuardia or Newark, about four and a half hours, and hands it to you at arrivals. We pick the landing slot around the traffic, not around the fare.
JFK, LaGuardia or Newark
All three take nonstop flights from Phoenix, about four and a half hours in the air. Newark is often the easiest handoff for New Jersey and the western suburbs, LaGuardia for Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island, JFK for everything else. The flight is the short part: the drive from any of them at the wrong hour can add two hours, so we plan the landing time around traffic rather than around the cheapest fare.
Upstate, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany all usually mean a connection. Some families prefer to meet the flight in New York and drive, and some prefer the connection; we will lay out both and you choose.
A Ragdoll is an apartment cat
This is the breed to have in a small space. They are indoor cats that want company rather than territory, they do not climb the curtains, and they are quiet: a chirp when you come home rather than the running commentary of a Siamese. What they will not tolerate is being alone all week. If the apartment is empty from seven to seven every day, get two kittens or wait until that changes.
Radiator heat and the winter coat
Steam heat in a pre-war building dries the air to a degree that shows up in the coat as static and shedding. A humidifier and several water bowls fix most of it. The spring shed is heavy, as it is anywhere with a real winter, so plan on a fortnight of daily combing in April and keep a lint roller by the door.
Before you commit, check the lease
Co-op and rental rules vary wildly in New York and some are strict about cats even when they allow dogs. Get it in writing before you place a deposit. We would rather hold a kitten for a week while you confirm than have it come back in six months.
What it costs, and what is tested
$800 a kitten, every color and sex, with everything on this list. Travel is quoted for your airport and never bundled into the price. Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Every kitten leaves vaccinated and wormed for its age with the written record, seen by our vet, microchipped and registered in your name, and litter trained. Everything that travels with it.
Questions from New York families
I live in an apartment. Is a Ragdoll a fair choice?
It is close to the ideal one, provided somebody is home most days. They are indoor cats, they are quiet, and they want company rather than space. Check your lease before you place a deposit, and screen any balcony.
Do you ship Ragdoll kittens to New York?
Yes. A flight nanny carries your kitten in the cabin from Phoenix to JFK, about four and a half hours, and hands it to you at the airport. Or you fly to Phoenix, meet your kitten, and carry it home on your return flight.
Which airport should I meet the flight at?
Whichever is the shortest drive from your door. In New York that usually means JFK, LGA, EWR, BUF or ALB. Tell us which and the flight is booked to it.
How much is a kitten, and what holds one?
$800, every color and sex. A $400 deposit holds your kitten and comes off the $800. It transfers to another kitten if you change your mind about which one. If you cannot go ahead at all, $300 of it is refunded. Travel is quoted separately for your airport. What the price includes.
Are the parents health tested?
Both parents are DNA tested for HCM and PKD, the two inherited conditions the breed is known for. Our cats.
Can I drive to Arizona instead?
Plenty of families do. From New York it is about thirty-four hours by road, and you meet the kitten, meet us, and take it home yourself. Either way nothing is paid for a kitten you have not seen photographed that day.
When can a kitten travel?
From 12 weeks, and never in the same week as a vaccination.
